INWIT has signed an agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) that provides for a EUR350mn loan to deploy digital infrastructure and improve mobile coverage in Italy, the towerco has announced.

The funding will be used for macro-grid connectivity solutions, including macro towers, rooftop structures for 5G and FWA connections as well as for outdoor small cells and multi-operator DAS.

The latter smaller infrastructure will be used to improve connectivity in hospitals, museums, shopping centres, underground lines and motorway tunnels.

“This partnership represents further recognition of our business model and the strategic value of our investment plan in digital and shared infrastructure, which drives economic and industrial efficiency across the value chain for the benefit of our customers." said INWIT's General Manager Diego Galli.

"This financing confirms the EIB's commitment to supporting the development of digital infrastructure in Italy, fostering technological growth and the transition to increasingly advanced and efficient connectivity." commented EIB Vice-President Gelsomina Vigliotti.
