S&P Global has recognised Cellnex the telecommunications infrastructure operator as one of the leading companies in the sector in terms of sustainability.
Over 3,500 companies participated in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), an extensive ESG questionnaire, which is used to assess performance.
The top 10% of companies in each sector are chosen to be part of the the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe (DJSI Europe).
Just four companies on the DJSI Europe came from the telecommunications sector; Cellnex, Deutshe Telecom, Telefonica and Telecom Italia. Of these, Cellnex stands out as the only towerco, with the other three firms being mobile operators.
In the report, Cellnex was highlighted for its policy and strategy in environmental management and climate change, strong governance and materiality analysis, and rigorous labour practices with a focus on human rights.
Vincent Cuvillier, Chief Strategy Officer at Cellnex, commented “It is a great success for Cellnex to be among the four most sustainable companies in a sector as competitive as telecommunications.
"Sustainability is an intrinsic part of our strategy, and this recognition reflects the effort and commitment of our teams to integrate sustainable practices into our operations.”
