EDOTCO Bangladesh has been awarded a multi-year leasing extension by GrameenPhone, the largest mobile operator in the country's four-MNO market.
The decision for the lease extension is aimed at supporting the operator’s network expansion efforts.
Sunil Issac, country managing director of EDOTCO Bangladesh, said: “At EDOTCO, our mission is to connect the unconnected by providing reliable and advanced connectivity solutions. This renewed partnership with Grameenphone enables us to continue building the infrastructure needed to support 4G network expansion, enabling digital access even in remote and underserved areas."
EDOTCO, which is the largest towerco in the country that owns and manages nearly 19,000 sites, sees the country's infrastructure industry continuing to develop.

Earlier in Q3 2024, Telenor and the remaining stakeholders in GrameenPhone entered into an agreement with the Japanese Marubeni Corporation to buy their entire 9.5% stake in GrameenPhone. After completing the transaction, Telenor will have increased its stake in the MNO to 55.5 % from 51%. The purchase price is US$9.7 mn, valuing GrameenPhone to US$ 216mn on a 100% basis.
