In compiling our report of the top 20 towerco executives we have been honoured to speak with the greatest minds and up and coming stars of our sector, exploring not only their strategic visions for their own companies but also their views on the trajectory of the towerco industry as we emerge into a new normal.

TowerXchange: How long ago did you establish TowerCo of Africa, and what are some of your biggest challenges and proudest achievements to date?

Thank you for the question and for the opportunity, TowerCo of Africa started its journey in Madagascar back in 2011 after we finalised a sale and leaseback of Telma’s tower portfolio. Over the next 10 years we grew our operations through greenfield build-to-suit and patiently waited for the right opportunity to expand, which came in 2021 when we acquired Ubuntu Towers, a Ugandan towerco launched by ex-Eaton towers employees.

This year we are establishing two new towercos; a greenfield towerco in the DRC and a sale leaseback towerco in Tanzania.
